  They grow. In the same way that you get frost on car winshields. The little atoms from the air settle on a cold surface and start to link up with each other and form little crystlas. That is exactly what happens to mine. the air has lots of metal atoms in it and they settle on a cool surface (450 degrees! cool to them) and start to grow into fantastic shapes!

Question: where do you get the tiny crystals from?
