Hi Libbie — the University of Illinois is the university where I work. I am an American, and Illinois is a state in the middle of the country — the state with Chicago in it.

It’s a great school, with good basketball and football teams :).

The other thing we have going for us is that there are TONS of us who do science outreach here: Joanne Manaster (sciencegoddess), Alex Wild (Myrmecos), Dan Simons, me, Bill Hammack (The Engineer Guy).

I am originally from Boston, but am having fun in the midwestern part of the US. There’s almost never any traffic or stress, I get delicious, fresh farm food all year long, and I get to teach some really smart students. I have a small lab with a lot of college students, almost all women, and we have fun talking about research into “ladybusiness” ;).
