      Hi TTmadman,

Well I wouldn’t really think so. We would probably seen more evidence if there was some down there, they would have to adapted to a different environment from which they used to be found. There are lots and lots of creatures that we have not found though. There could be even more exciting things down there!

I’m with Jamie. I think there are some pretty amazing things in the ocean that we haven’t seen yet, but I doubt Megalodon is one of them.

I do love the idea of exploring the sea though, don’t you? If I weren’t petrified of sharks I would have pursued my love of dolphins and whales a bit more 😉

I didn’t know what a megalodon was until I googled it after seeing your question…. I was amazed at how big it was!! I think I agree with Jamie though it isn’t very likely that any are out there as there probably would be more evidence… but it is an interesting thought!

@ttmadman2000 I had to look this up online too. Interesting question – how do you know if a species is really extinct or not if the deepest depths of our oceans haven’t been properly explored before?

Having said that, the oceans which Megalodon originally lived in have now closed up because of the movement of Earth’s tectonic plates, and if they did still exist, we would still find them swimming just offshore where the food they ate would be most abundant, so in answer to your question, I don’t think that Megalodon still exists…..except in the Hollywood movie ‘Jaws’ 😉
