• Question: hey guys will we know when the sun will explode(are there any signs) or will just happen??? :S

      Oh don’t worry about this, we will know. Even if it was going to explode right now we would have detected it as we understand the sun fairly well. But as the sun is fine and happy for billions of years yet just think how advanced we will be by then! We will be able to detect it and perhaps do something to prevent it or maybe just move to the next galaxy over, who knows!

      If someone is still in the planet in about 5 billion years, then yes, for sure they will notice. On the other hand, the sun is about 4 and a half billion years old so there is enough space for another entire evolution and human history to fit in there. In the mean there is nothing to worry about the sun…other than its weather…

      Have you watched the Prof Brian Cox programme ‘Wonders of the universe – Stardust ep 2.’? This is not my area of science but that programme made me go ‘WOW’ as I never realise that we and all the elements are all made up of stardust from dying stars! So when our sun does explode it will add to the recycling of the universe. I love it when science has a beautiful poetic feel to it.
